Chapter Four

"This is your house?" Enid asked, eyes wide as he spun in a slow circle, taking everything in.

My house wasn't by any means lavish. It was a cute little two story home that had a big, vaulted ceiling living room, a big, fully-furnished kitchen, with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, and a big master bedroom with an attached bath downstairs as well as a bathroom just off the living room for guests.

It wasn't fancy, or even all that big, but it was pretty perfect for a family of four or five and was close enough to look out at Meadow Park Lake.

"Yeah," I said, narrowing my eyes at the look of awe on his face. "Why do you look so surprised."

"It looks like an adult lives here," he said, serious as could be, and I glared harder as my brother snorted.

Lincoln hadn't been surprised to find me in Enid's bed the next morning. He had been surprised to find that we still had our pants on. The whole thing had been worth it to have Enid blush bright red and bury his face against my neck.

"I am an adult, Enid, remember?" I grumbled, pouting. "I even have a grown-up job and everything."

"He even has a 401K," Lincoln added, shooting me the double thumbs up when I glanced at him.

Okay, bro. Take it easy on the grown-up terms. We don't want him expecting too much.

"And you're sure we––" Enid pointed back and forth between him and I, his forehead creased and his motions a little agitated. "—are supposed to be together."

I made a show of looking him over from head to toe, getting the adorable blush I'd been hoping for. "Oh, baby. I'm pretty fucking sure."

"Ew," My brother said, smacking my arm. "You look fucking creepy when you try to be sexy. Why are you flexing only your left nostril? No! What is wrong with your eye? Wait! Are you trying to fart?"

Glaring, I reached over and smacked his arm in the same place he'd smacked me… but harder, smiling slightly when it made him stumble sideways a bit.

That of course meant he had to smack me just as hard and before long the fight was on.

When my childhood best friend, who was also my brother's mate walked through the front door with three large sacks of take out, we'd already made it to the floor and were both growling loud enough to be disturbing if a human was to pass by the open front door.

Thankfully, I lived far enough off the beaten path and there was actually quite a bit of space between my door and the next one.

"What are you two doing?" Crawford demanded, just as Lincoln sank his teeth into the flesh of my forearm and I yowled, grabbing the top of his head and sticking the tips of my fingers in the tops of his eye sockets, I started tugging.

Finally, he released my bleeding forearm and I let go of his head, growling slightly.

Lincoln smiled happily up at his mate.
